Message - You can't save past document.

Question: When I tried to save a past invoice, the following message prompted?

Answer: you have locked the opening balance from editing.

 

Just go to Tools > Manage Fiscal Year ... highlight the current fiscal year (the fiscal year that is checked as current year), and uncheck the checkbox of Lock Opening Balance.
